New logo - vote!

Monday, March 26th, 2007
I need help! I am trying to decide on a new logo and I could use some input. Please let me know what you think by adding a comment with your vote!
By the way - the color blocks are colors I like, so if anyone thinks that a different color would work better on something, those are the colors to choose from (and they all come up a little dark on here)! Thanks!

It’s fixed!!!

Sunday, March 25th, 2007

After almost 2 whole days of being unable to view my website, check my e-mail or do anything having to do with my website, it is fixed!!! I was freaking out - ready to blow a gasket - and no one could figure out what the problem was. One of my best friends, Joe, who lives in Florida, checked out my computer through this Net Meeting conference thing… that was really weird! Basically, he took control of my computer through his own - all the way from Florida! He checked everything out and saw that nothing with my website was working, my site was not pinging - whatever that means - but it worked from his computer. After having him, my uncle and my website support helping me and nothing was resolved, I decided I needed to get out of the house. I went to lunch with my friend Lauren and we chatted for about 2 hours… I was not ready to go home and face my computer quite yet, so I went shopping for my daughter’s spring clothes. I walked in the door, tried it again and the problem had just resolved itself! Just goes to show you - shopping really does cure! =) It seems that it was most likely Optimum that was the culprit, but still no one really knows for sure. All I can say is *SIGH* I am SO relieved!!!

Website Issues

Saturday, March 24th, 2007

I’m having a major website issue - I can’t access ANYTHING dealing with my website and can’t open the site itself! I can’t even check my e-mail! It has now been down for over 24 hours and I am trying really hard to fix it, with the help of my server’s support center. I know that I have e-mails that need to be responded to, but I can’t get into my e-mail! I sincerely apologize for this trouble - I am not ignoring anyone and will respond as soon as I can get into my e-mail!

Kristen & John

Friday, March 23rd, 2007
Kristen and John have crossed over from clients to friends of mine and I was beyond thrilled to shoot their super fun St. Patrick’s Day wedding! After braving the snowstorm on Friday for their rehearsal dinner, Kristen and John were married on a beautiful sunny day at the Aqua Turf Chapel in Plantsville, CT, followed by the reception in The Glass Ballroom at the Aqua Turf. The fresh snow covering the grounds at the Aqua Turf was so pretty, but unfortunately it was a bit windy and cold, so we only snuck out very quickly for outdoor photos.

Kristen looked like a movie star - I said she looked like Nicole Kidman, then people were saying she looked like Grace Kelly… either way, she was absolutely STUNNING! The intricate beadwork on her dress was amazing and definitely fit her sparkly personality! John was so handsome in all black and white with that crooked smile of his. These two have got to be the cutest couple ever - and I’m not just talking about appearances!

Everyone was so full of emotion and you could just tell how much Kristen and John love each other and how much their families and friends love them! Even I teared up when Kristen walked down the aisle!

A big thank you to Jason McGrew for being my second shooter and getting some rockin’ hot shots!

Here are a few of my favorites. Don’t forget to check out the slideshow by clicking HERE!

CONGRATULATIONS, KRISTEN & JOHN! I am so happy for you! I can’t wait to hang out once you get back from your honeymoon!

Sick of being "sick"

Monday, March 19th, 2007

Okay, so those of you who know me know that I get migraines… a lot. I have had a migraine every single day for about a month and a half now. I am just completely disgusted with this. To top this off, I now have a cold to add to it. I have been to a neurologist, I take daily preventative medications, I have a prescription to treat the migraines, yet I still get them all the time. I went through this last year (same time of year) and ended up in the ER on Morphine and thought I had had a mini-stroke. Let me tell you, that is SCARY - especially when you’re only in your twenties. When that happened last year, my neurologist put me on Prednisone (a steroid) to break the cycle of migraines. It broke the cycle, but I was still getting them 3-4 times a week and it progressed to 5-6 times a week until the recent every single day occurrance. Every year they seem to get worse. I know several people (including my Mom) who also get migraines, yet no one seems to get them as frequently as I do. My Mom and my friend Melody both mentioned something to me recently (in the same day, no less) about food allergies possibly being the culprit. This is something I am definitely checking out as I do have some food allergies that I am aware of (basil, milk) and there could certainly be others that affect me in different ways. I know that most of the trouble stems from a car accident I was in about 5 years ago, but they should be getting better, not worse… especially after 4 rounds of physical therapy. It is just so frustrating as it totally disrupts my life. Being a mother, wife and business owner that is not something that I take lightly. A friend of mine recently told me about all of the different things she has tried to no avail and I am very discouraged. I know there isn’t a cure, but I’m hoping for something that helps… even if it’s just a little bit.

Anyone else out there feeling my pain? Does anyone have any words of wisdom for a girl who is at her wits end with this nasty, debilitating disease? What have you tried? What works for you?

Language barrier

I received a phone message yesterday that I could not understand. This happens from time to time - someone calls me who has a very strong foreign accent (or a bad phone signal) and I cannot understand what they are saying. Usually after listening to the message or having them repeat several times, I can make out most of what they are saying, but this is not the case with the phone call I received yesterday afternoon. I was only able to make out a few words from the message and I have no idea who called me. So, if you called me yesterday and think I might be speaking of you, please e-mail me at info@autumn-photography.com. Thanks!

Chillin’ Frosty

Wednesday, March 7th, 2007

A little late posting, but better late than never! The last good snow we had Sean and Jaedyn had fun building the foundation for our chillin’ snowman while I sculpted him to look like more than a big blob. Once he was complete, Frosty, Jaedyn and Sean had a little photo session:

Leave it to a guy……..

First Day

Wednesday, March 7th, 2007

Yesterday was my daughter’s first day of preschool - EVER! We had planned to have her start in the fall for pre-K, but she has been begging to go now so we signed her up. She is the only girl in her class but she doesn’t mind! She was totally fine with it… I cried… a few times! I think my only saving grace was that I had a meeting with one of my brides to design her album - she kept me distracted so I didn’t think so much about Jaedyn being at school.

So, we pulled up at the preschool and of course, like all parents do, I had to take a quick snap of my little girl on her first day. It was COLD - in the single digits - and she was so excited she didn’t seem to notice. On our way through the parking lot I asked her to turn around so I could take her photo and she let me fire off two very quick shots, threw her hand up in the air and said “That’s enough Mommy. No more pictures.” like a little movie star dealing with the paparazzi. I cannot believe that she is this grown up already! Where on earth did the time go?!

I finally got around to processing my own photos - something that always gets pushed back!
Here are some photos from my trip to Michigan for my Grandmother’s 80th birthday and the big ice storm that thankfully was not as bad as it could have been:

My Mom & Step Dad made a slideshow of around 50 years worth of family photos.

While waiting for 3/4 of a can of de-icer to work the ice off of my car so we could drive back to CT, Jaedyn and I decided to have some fun taking photos. I don’t know how the photos aren’t terribly blurry - I was shaking like a leaf! Brrrrr!!!!

The common denominator

In the last couple of weeks I have had the pleasure of meeting so many awesome photographers from the tri-state area and beyond! Mid February I went down to Millburn, NJ for a “Women Photographers Luncheon”. I was quite shocked when I arrived to see that there were over 20 women photographers there from CT all the way to PA! We had a very nice lunch at Basilico, a great little Italian Resturant in the downtown area of Millburn, NJ. Get a bunch of women together and boy, can they talk! We shared our stories and chatted for over 3 hours!

Tuesday night I met up with Andrea Topalian for dinner at SBC in Southport, CT for a great dinner. We chatted for a few hours about photography, life and family. It was so nice to meet another local photographer - and we have girls the same age too! Thank you again for dinner, Andrea! I look forward to many more get togethers!

Last night was my first PUG meeting - what an incredible experience! Over 20 photographers from CT and even some from MA joined the fun at Nikki Nicole’s studio in Rocky Hill. Our meeting was led by Justin & Mary from Imagine Imaging and they did an awesome job! Mary and Brian Khang talked about the importance of blogging (which I’ve been slacking at lately!). Matthew J. Wagner did a great presentation on ShowIt’s new beta version and taught us all about custom timing. What a fantastic group of photographers! I had a great time and really enjoyed meeting everyone there. How awesome to find such a warm and friendly group that views each other all as colleagues and *gasp* even friends, rather than competition!! I can’t wait for the March meeting!

And wouldn’t you know it…. all of these meetings with photographers and we didn’t take any photos of our get togethers! How’s that for irony?
